any ideas ont his one? thinking of putting one simase with 2xguppies, 3xplaties, 2xgourami

I wouldn't recommend it, though it could work. Usually the Betta sees the Guppy's bright colors and big tails, and just goes for them. Your Guppies could get very stressed out...not to mention have no tails left. :/

Also, Platies and Gouramis might not work out so well either...The Betta can see the Platies' bright colors and attack them, or the Platies can start nipping on the Betta. And Bettas and Gouramis aren't usually compatible...

Usually Bettas are best kept alone, but you could try some Cories or something. What size tank are we talking?

And sorry to shoot down all your ideas...just a little warning. :)

I would say no since guppies have brightly colored fins and the Betta might see it as another male.

there are three possibilities here
1 ) the betta will attack the guppies
2) the guppies will gang up on the betta
3) they will get along together with no incedents

a 33.3% chance that all will be fine is not a good enough to risk it.

And that's only considering the guppies!

It would be a very bad idea to try a betta in that specific tank. Bettas don't like the bright colours of platies or guppies, and anabantoids (which include bettas and gouramis) are very quarrelsome amongst themselves.

Definately not recommended.

Bettas aren't great with guppies - I was chatting to someone the other day and his guppies lasted a few days before their fins were shredded and ultimately killed.

I've read that the males (can't speak for females) see the male guppy as a threat, possibly seeing it as a betta I don't know, basically down to their bright finnage like themselves.

If you have to put tankmates in then in my experience balloon mollies are fine although cories remain on the bottom so they would encounter eachother less than mollies would.

Yea, as The-Wolf said there is a 33% chance with guppies - I would say the same for most fish you add - I would suggest you stay clear of guppies though in this case.

Male bettas don't make good comunity fish due to their agressiveness and slowness and dislike of strong filter currents and despite being small they are still meat eating predeter fish, many people feel the urge to put tankmates with male bettas because they look lonely or want to spice the tank up a bit but when it comes down to it, male bettas do best on their own  .
