i have one male and one female fighter and they're in love! i think any day now they will be ready to give out some eggs :fun: . Now i heard that you need to remove the female or else she'll eat them -_- , do you need to remove your other fish too? i have two fish tanks in the house and in the other fish tanks there is a large territorial angel fish :/ and i think he'll bully them especially my gourani :-( . Can somebody help? (i think my female will be ok in the other tank because there is already a female in the other tank anyway. I have 2 pleco's, 4 neons, 4 guppies, 1 gourani and obviously the lovebirds fish

Have you though about how ur going to rear them? what to feed, how to save the eggs!!!! research befor u think about breeding a fish please :(

If u want to breed betta's then you should think of setting up a breeding tank as their s no point having other fish as nothing will surive!!!!!!!!!!!

It should be a 2ft bare bottemed tank fill with mature tank water and gently aerate with a sponge filter, add only the male at first and once setteled in turn off the aeration and he should build a bubble nest.

introduce the female in a breeding trap/net thiis will encourage the male to build.

Feed both fish on blood worm and other live foods.....

Thats the first step. hopefuly your not rush into this as the fry are difficualt to rear so u need to produce small foods for them........

Their is a good search tool here and many topic's on the subject.

Sorry if i sound harsh.

I hope you're not keeping two bettas (siamese fighters) in a tank. Please tell me you're not. They need to be removed. Bettas can't be kept together or with gouramis. If you want to breed them do LOADS of research first. Females need to be kept alone or in groups of 6 or more. They are not good community fish and shouldn't be kept with guppies or neons either. I'm sorry to tell you but those are all the fish that you CAN'T keep with bettas. If you're keeping a female and male together chances are your female will die soon. As well as your male will have ripped up fins and your guppies will become hurt. A male should be on his own. If you want to breed them you should have a 10 gallon sorority tank with lots of FEMALE BETTAS and an empty 10 gallon BARE-BOTTOMED. Bettas are aggressive fish and you need to be careful when putting them with other fish. Please research before getting your fish. I'm sorry if this sounds mean but it sounds like you just bought pretty fish without researching them. Please think about what you are doing.
