Hello again everyone I've got another problem today! After last nites attack from the Penguin & Black Widow fish i seperated my siamese fighter from all the other fish & she seemed a bit happier. Today I have taken the penguins & widows to local fish shop & they have taken them off my hands so my siamese is back. But this afternoon she has started to discolour starting at the underneath of the mouth & along the underneath of her, she is normally a dark red with bright red tail. I am really worried, ive done my tests & they all ok apart from the Nitrate which is at 10 bordering on 20 im so stressed for her I dont know what to do. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME.....................................

Is there any fluffy bit's around her mouth.

She is probably suffering from a major case of stress.
I've got one going through something similar right now - but his stress was caused by moving him from tank to tank and him not liking the current, etc.

ANYWAY... he became very stressed out, his immune system was compromised and now he's not feeling well.

Do you have any aquarium salt? That will help with the stress a bit.

I was thinking about the salt but wasnt sure about putting it in with the other fish? & is it just normal salt or is there a proper fish salt???? (im new at all this fish stuff & its actually my boyfriends tank & he is away)

Aquarium salt if you have some, but only add it to the tank if you have no scaless fish, good luck.

Aaah - understood.
Do you have a WalMart near you? You can pick up a little package of the salt - it looks like it's in a little milk carton, it's pink and white - called Aquarium Salt. What other fishes are in the tank with them? Some fish can't have salt so post what you've got before adding the salt.

Im from UK so will go to fish shop in morn - ive got a sucker fish thing, guppies, mollies, red eyes & some other things i dont no name of they are mollies size but orange & black.

the sucker fish is a pleco.
I'm not sure if they can stand salt or not - wait for someone else to answer before you dump the salt in on that one...

I think the rest should be okay.

thanks bettamomma i couldn't remember the name, his name is sid & thats how far it normally goes with me. Thanks for you advice you have really helped. I love the names for your siamese fighters they well cool.

Thanks much.
Unfortunately the only reason I know so much about fish problems is because at one point or another all of my fish have been sick with nasty diseases.

The red one - Amos - is not looking too hot at the moment.

Good luck with the bf's fish, I'm sure he'll appreciate that you took great care of them.!

Just checked on her again she is more active now but her colour is still draining - i hope the salt works i really do -_-

Just remember that lots of sudden stress can bring on secondary illnesses. Make sure you watch her for things like corner hiding, ick (white spots covering her body), popeye, etc.

The salt should help though.

AHHH! No salt with the pleco!! Take him out or something but don't add salt with him still in there, it can make them sick and/or kill him.
