hi

i've got a quick question regarding amano shrimp. my lfs has recently got a supply in and i'm planning to get some for my tank. is there a recommended stocking level for them (1 per 10gals etc) or is it fine to get half a dozen for my 60g?

They add virtually no extra waste to your tank what so ever as far as I found out. Obviously if you put 20 in there might be some impact. I added 3 to my fully stocked 10gal UK and they've been fine. Best thing I ever bought to help control algae.

what little effect they have on the filter they simple get rid of doing their jobs,eating algea,fallen food etc. i have 5 in my 15 gallon and dont even notice the difference apart from it being cleaner

I toss a dozen (12) in my 55G every 6 weeks or so. It causes no problems whatsoever. They are so small they won't increase your bioload. Depending on what fish you have they may get eaten! Keep that in mind. They have a tendency to hide and disappear as well, so you are best getting 12 if you ever want to see any!! HTH!
