This is my Juwel Rekord 60 shrimp tank the shrimp share the tank with platy fry and 5 apple snails
The CRS were purchased yesterday (BARGAIN 13 FOR £20) and are only about 1cm in length so will need time to colour up properly (hopefully as kids want nice stripey ones) - not got a clue on grading or anything so will need a chart when they get bigger but i',m sure they must be the lowest of the low cos of the price :) as one is nealy all white ATM with only 2 red bits on it :( Will get pic of him when he decides to come out again
the tank is run with an internal elite filter 200lph , nutrafin CO2
plants will be fed on TetraPlant PlantaMin as received an email from tetra today stating that it's safe with fresh water shrimp :)
I've got a few plants in there - dont know what they are
got 4 marimo moss balls , some java moss , 1 piece of bogwood and 4 pieces of mopani wood :)
Wil hopefully be getting more plants have to see how the finances go :)

Very nice pics and critters. I love that caramel striped apple, I have one too and hes my biggest. Do you have any problems with the C02 ladder? I had shrimp get stuck in it and die in another setup.

Your shrimp is taking a ride on that snail, it be quicker if you swam there you silly shrimp
Tank looks good as do the inverts. :good:

yes the shrimps do a lot of riding on the snails i think its just plain lazy lmao
the ramshorns keep laying eggs on the apple snail shalls so thats why most of the shrimp ride on them cos they like eating the snails eggs off :)

I would alsl watch out for the ramshorns, my ex's tank became overrun with them and they started killing her apple snails. They would literally swarm on them and eat them alive.

Looks good, I love the apples. I should get some more.

I would try to get a plain black background, though. Current one is a bit busy. Getting rid of the yellow gravel would make it look great. :good:

This is why I'm not getting them for my tank, pretty as they are.

i keep getting the buggers out when i see them but there always seem to be more in the morning - i think the snail fairies come in and put them in the tank over night ;)

Thanks for the warning

yellow gravel and background can't go unfortunately (though plants should hopefully cover most of the background soon ) as kids wanted them and it was either that or lots of ornaments so settled on the gravel and background ---- getting some black pebbles like i got in the main community tank so that should help cover up the gravel ;)

have to keep the kids happy lol

Thanks for the comments

that seems very cheap for CRS are you sure thats what you were charged maybe you were mistaken cos even low grade CRS wouldn't be that cheap
apart from that the tank looks pretty good but i'd lose the yellow gravel makesit look tacky and that dead snail shell looks a bit of a mess in there IMO

The shrimp were 13 for £20 i'm sure i'm going to remember how much i paid for them on Saturday ;)
as mentioned the yellow gravel and the background were the kids choice so i let them have that instead of lots of ornaments ,
The apple snail shell has to stay as it was my sons first apple snail "MINT" and he doesn't want to get rid of it so it's staying ,

Thanks for your opinion
