Shrimp Stealing The Fish Food...so Cute, But Annoying

I realized my betta was picking at my ghost shrimp, so I moved them to the larger tank. Now whenever I put in a bottom feeder disc for the cory cats, the shrimp swoop in and steal it!

It honestly is kind of adorable, especially when they fend off the fish with their little claw feet. But they tend to drag it under the drift wood where it's hard for the cory cats to get at it.

Do I just have unusually aggressive shrimp? Is there any way to stop this behavior? I'm thinking not- they certainly aren't unfed!

I am considering setting up a small tank just for shrimp...they are fast becoming my favorite critters in the tank.

I really wouldn't worry about it. The ammount they eat is minimal.

If your that concerned put an extra few bits of food in

Very normal behaviour for Amano and Ghost shrimp. They tend to be quite gregarious! They will continue the behaviour as well. Shrimp are my favourite, I love them!

the bigger ones of my amano shrimp try to steal the tetratabmin i feed my corys but there too heavy for them to carry for long so its always funny watching them try get off the ground, swimming madly for about 5 seconds then dropping not letting go of it makes me laugh every time.

I got them on a whim, and now I'm in love- they're always right in the center of things. It just cracks me up watching them dive into the middle of a pack of eight cory cats and WIN.

My amano shrimp are bigger than a lot of the fish in the tank and will quite happily take food straight out their mouths and drag it the full length of the tank to keep it to themselves. There's still plenty of food to go around and it's amusing to watch, enjoy them
