Well I have a few minutes because our schools around here are canceled due to bad weather so I can tell you this story...

Late on saturday night my powerhead was clogged with some debris so I reached in my tank to clear it from the intake filter. When I put my arm in the water to reach to the back of the tank I saw a large bug shaped blur swimming swiftly towards my arm. It freaked me out so I yanked my arm back out of the water horrified at what critter might be in my tank. Well it stopped swimming and hung on the front corner of my tank and I saw what it was... a shrimp that I had put in the tank probably 8 months ago. I had never seen it since I put it in the tank. I figured that a fish ate it because it was small when it went in. It must have a REALLY good hiding place. Anyway it must be healthy because it got pretty large (Big enough to scare me)

Does anyone else have a scary story to tell?

LOL a wolf that's scared of a shrimp :hyper:

Sorry!

Yes, I'm scared of doing tank maintenance on one of my tanks - it houses a pair of short-bodied pink convicts and the male is quite aggressive towards me whenever they have fry or eggs that he tries to attack me every time I put my hand in the water! He headbutts any cleaning equipment I put in there, too (e.g. scrapers, gravel vac etc).

I've finally sussed out a way of keeping him away from me, though - and it's a bit tricky - I have to hold a net in one hand and gently wave it near to my other hand that's doing all the cleaning/rearranging/vacuuming. He HATES the sight of the fish net LOL - so I use that as a barrier between me and him now and it does work providing I don't lose concentration and stop moving the net about. If he sees the net isn't moving, he'll make a quick dash for my hand.

Not sure if he's physically able to actually hurt me, to be honest - but he's definitely given me a fright a few times when he's barged into my hand.

And the size of this monster? A piddly 3 inches LOL

this happened to me!!!! same story!! except it was 2 months not 8.

i guess mine was hiding because of the fish which could eat it too, so i moved it to a different tank where hes safe.

is yours still in there? cause it will probably hide again and you will only occasionally see him. it cant be good for them hiding all the time though.
