While Beta's tank is stabilizing, I'm continuing to look for the perfect companion(s). Does anyone have experience with dwarf (aka dainty) corys? Are they small enough that Beta might want to eat them?

Most corys don't get bigger than 2", there are a couple of 3 inchers like Schwartzi.

You shoud get a few if you were going to get any and make sure they have somewhere to hide. I find that they are more active by night. Mine have mopani and a v small plantpot on it's side to hide in.

They do come out during the day, just not as much.

get corys, you will love them~ :D

Cories are better than shrimp, IMO, but you could get both if you want. The shrimp add a little variety.

Thanks for the advice :) I can't find dwarf corys in the LFS, but I've found a mail-order source that offers a minimum of six. I'll take two for my 3-gallon, and my daughter will put the rest in her 29-gallon with her other catfish.

What do you mean "dwarf corys"? Have you got them mixed up with something else? They are all pretty small 2" adult but a couple get to 3".

How can such a small fish have a dwarf relative?

Yeah, seems bizarre, doesn't it? Dwarf (aka "dainty") corys supposedly get no bigger than 1.25 inches. Latin name is Corydorus habrosus. The reason I'm considering them is that I'd like to keep more than one, but the tank is small.
