ok so ive had a couple of amo shrimps in with my female guppy and about 7 fry, only thing is ive noticed 1 of the shrimps has gotten this enlarged belly! of course its crossed my mind it may be pregnant but looking at it...well it doesn't look like its pregnant? the "thing" in its tail seems to sway back and forth in motion with each other...heres a picture...

now is that normal?? what is it lol thanks!

no thats the thing...it just looks like one big lump of brown stuff....

they look like eggs to me as well. That or its constipated (jk)

Definitely eggs mate, and she'll just be fanning them to keep them aerated, which I'm guessing is what you can see moving.

And by the way, just incase you didn't know, the young won't survive in freshwater but its good that they're breeding, means they're happy.

yea ive read up on-line about them needing brackish water...i just happen to have a 4 Litre container i could float in the the tank, with its own water of course, just this way i can keep its temp up, how would i make the water ready for it?

I've had no experience with brackish setups but I'm sure you could search on this forum and find one, perhaps in the brackish section? :) I don't think the babies would survive in a 4 litre tub, and unless you are very experienced I don't think you would keep the babies alive anyway, even in a tank. You need greenwater to feed them, for a start, which is difficult to keep alive. I think there was an attempt at breeding them on here not so long ago, but the babies died after a few days.

ah ok, well its worth a try though aint it?? who knows i might get lucky :)

Congrats, looks like she is carrying. A brackish tank isnt too difficult to set up, some one over on the brackish forum will help you i'm sure.

I agree, its worth a try, good luck :good:
