How much do shrimp add to a bio-load? I want to get some for my 29. I realize its fully stocked, but if shrimp have little effect, then Id like to get them.

As far as I know shrimp produce very little waste. You could fit six or so in there without much trouble.

I beg to differ. My amano shrimp are messy as you like.

Really? Mine never seem to make much mess at all. I suspect perhaps the cories and loaches may eat it......It must go somewhere as I never see any!

Could be. I had a set up with amano shrimp in a planted with a school of CPD's and they pooped a lot all over the moss balls lol, it surprised to see, and as ther were no cories or loaches or any other catfish or snails etc. to eat it, it just settled on the bottom. They have since gone back into the 60 gallon where the filtration is much better and I don't notice it so much now apart from a little on the moss balls and anubias

amano shrimp are primarily algae eaters...and as we know with other algae eating spp., like pelcs, they poop a LOT...anyonw with a lot of snails will notice this also. they poop a lot...ghost/glass/grass shrimp are omnivores and really like leftover food, so they dont put as much waste into the system...either way, i think any small spp. of shrimp, you could keep a few no problem! i have loads of ever=pooping snails that put vitually no load.
cheers!

Cool, Im probably going to wait until I find a home for one of my Angels, the get some ghosts. Id prefer Cherries, but at $2 versus $0.18 Ghosts are hard to pass up. Plus, Cherries to small. And I dont find if a few shrimp are made lunch. As long as the bigger guys make it. Plenty of hiding in my tank.
