Shrimp/algea/black Out

yesterday i bought some amano shrimp, 5 to be exact for my 29g. as of tonight my tank is on black out but how long should i leave the lights out for? how long is too long?!

What kind of algae are you trying to get rid of?

um not sure to honest its sort of a green carpet covering my carpet of java moss!!! theres some hair algea on the glass too but i'm not too worried about that!

I would say as little as 3 days, but no more than 5. I think George just had something like that, and he did 5.

...and during this time you don't do in the tank for anything - no water top ups, no feeding. You leave it sealed until the blackout it over.

ok cheers might go till sat, as i'm not at work on sat then i can give tank a good clean as well. cheers for the speedy advice!!!
