My hubby is in the RAF so of course he has a love of fighter planes. He started making models of tornado aircraft a few years ago for leaving gifts. He recently made a few more and i thought i would show you guys what he does. He makes them from scratch from different types of woods and then either stains and varnishes them or spray paints them. He then cut out and moulds, stains and varnishes the bases too, all from hand. A couple of years ago he made one for the station charity bidding event and it went for over £200 which he found amazing. The buyer was one of the officers of a Squadron on camp.

The first one is one he made for me and spray painted it black. The base i dont like but he is going to change it sometime soon.
sorry about the quality of pics as i'm not the greatest photographer.

His current project is two, the GR3 and GR4 (i think) to be mounted an a big plinth. So i will get pics when its done.

and just for fun he is working on this *cichlid* for me. Dont know what kind lol
and its still needing to be stained and polished more and a stand made, but once its done i will try to do it justice and take some diferent angle shots of it as its sort of 3D

Thanks for the replies.
No the cichlid doesnt have a name as we dont know what type it is lol, seems to be a hybrid. Maybe i should do a *do you know what it is?* thread lol.

yes angry platy he has considered selling them but he doesnt know how much to sell them for.
As i said, the silver one is spare. :)

very very nice!

tell hubby he can't sort out a beginning price by going to local shows that feature local artists...that's how i determined my prices for my sculptures and such. it's also a very good place to begin making a name for yourself...set up a booth and promote your own items at the local shows...people love to get to know the artist :)

Mr Bones > Youre right it does look like your fish only it doesnt have the tummy lol. So he is squishy the Red Devil! Shame i cant keep him as he is a prize on another forum and his new owner is looking forward to getting him. But, i'm going to ask him when its finished if he still wants it or the silver plane. Hubby will be trying his hand at other types of fish next year. Ive already asked for a school of neons, but i got a look that could kill.

BlueIce > He isnt the type of person to go out and sell them and it takes months to just make one. Good idea though, and if we ever do a car boot sale then i could put a couple on and see how people take to them.

Thanks for the feed back guys, hubby is chuffed you like them. :)

Those are amazing, black angel. Get him to do a black calvus next  :hey:

And if he started doing bettas...

That is a lovely fish wuv. Its thin enough too by the looks of it to look good on the thickness of wood he uses.
As for a betta, it would be the biggest youve ever seen, as he wouldnt be able to do it to scale
I will show him and he will have a go at anything so you never know wuv, and that red plakat you have in a post is a good candidate :hey:
