Ok so my first guppy dropped last wednesday.. dropped at least 40 fry. But I have only seen a very slight decrease in her size. If someone looked at her right now they would say shes at least 3 weeks pregnant! She still has a gravid path, one side is clear one side is turning black. Plumped out chest just like all my other guppies who are getting close to dropping. Also her gravid patch never had any dark areas in it until 2 days before dropping and has been getting more and more every day.

Is it normal for a guppy to stay so big after dropping? Or is she really still pregnant? I figured after so many she would have been done.... Help! I am very confused!

I tried to get a picture but she moves to much.. maybe in the morning when she is a bit calmer I will be able to.

I think she should be a little smaller but I thought the same about my 1st Molly as she is still huge, I assume it's because they are both still pregnant with their next lot but due to the size they reached they may take longer to shrink back to normal

Maybe, I guess we'll have to see. Glad to know I'm not the only one though lol.

What happens is that female guppies don't get larger when their pregnant.

It's the next batch of egg's developing that make's them look like their growing.
So a healthy and happy fish do not lose that much weight. if their no eggs developing and they grive birth this will give the sudden loss of weight and and next breed could be several week's off.
Yours though should give birth 4-5 weeks from now.
