Hi Guys,

I have now have my tank fully setup.

I have added sand for the base.

I have added the fake plants

I have filled the tank with water. (took 2 hours to do with a pan by hand)

The water temp is a steady 28c.

Off to buy a water testing kit tonight. So i will have a better idea with what the water is doing.

I added some ammoina as instructed and a few fish flakes.

The water for the first 2 days was as clear as a bell...though on the third day i noticed it has started to turn slightly cloudy is this to be expected or am i on the verge of a 100% water change?)

a cloudy tank indicates a bacterial bloom and signifies there is ammonia in the tank
I'm on day 3 and have a nice haze through my tank as well!
Curious to see how this progresses.

It really is tigermoth. Its amazing the reproduction rate for many small single and multi cell organisms. They live their life on a fast pace and are driven by only two things, eat and reproduce. What a life that would be

Just another stupid question...will the bloom go on its own and the water return to its clear state?

the wonders of binary fission :)

Why would you treat the tank when there is nothing wrong?

Bacterial blooms in new tanks are quite normal and will clear within a couple of days as the bacteria bed down onto the filter media and solid surfaces within the tank.
