Atm i have a 26L tank with a male betta and 4 pygmy cories (lost 2 since wed) my sister has a 35L aquarium which i could have, obv. it would be better cos more space but im getting the 2 dead cories sorted out tomorrow.
If i get the tank tonight and set it up should it be ok for tomorrow when i get 2 new cories?

Mature media, sand substrate, heater set at 26 degrees.

hello there. Bigger is betta....lol however I would run the tank for a week adding ammonia and seeing if the levels clear in 12 hours to make sure the move to your house hasnt damaged the media. make sure it is kept damp in the move ....if it drys out the beneficial bacteria will die and you'll have to cycle the tank again. If its a case of emptying, moving and refilling make sure you run a qualifying week to ensure it still works normally and then you'll be ok for fish. I think this is right, or if you know it a mature tank, you can put the fish in but test twice daily to check the levels
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong lol

The mature media is mine that i have atm and the substrate is whats in my tanks atm and ill probably use my filter aswell as hers.

It should be ok,although i would keep a check on the stats and not add anything more fish for the time being until they are reading zero.

With pygmys, how long did you acclimatise them for?
I got my 12 pygmys on three different occasions, and each time i acclimatised them using the drip method for a good hour and haven't lost any, i do read about people losing pygmys with a day or so of getting them.

I would personally turn your heater down a bit to around 24 degrees,26 is on the higher end of the scale for corys.

Good luck, let us know how it goes. :good:

Temp is currently set to 25, ive decided to stay with current 26L and get it planted to a point where im happy with it before i swap.
