i will be adding fish once i get another filter, and i was wondering if i should switch the lights on to try and get a bit of algae growth so they have a bit of food?

thanks

so that is a yes - it will benefit the fish or just what you like to do?

I dont thinks its majorly beneficial but mainly another source of food, and it keep them busy which interm should reduce agression :good:

Algae in the aquarium has very minimal nutrition in it, if any.

It goes hand in hand with the theory to under feed your fish slightly. By under feeding they are always a little bit hungry and in turn will spend decent amounts of time picking at the algae. When they're busy doing that, they aren't fighting as much. :good:
