Hi I bought a used tank the other day and it came with some lovely big bits of bog wood. The tank hadn't been cleaned for a while and needed a good clean. The wood has something growing on it which I believe is probably a form of algae but not sure. What I want to know is, is this beneficial to leave on the wood? or should I remove it before putting it back in the tank?

Thanks
Lee

Ah right, Thanks, I'll leave it on then. I agree it does add a natural look to it. I like it :)

great bit of wood Lee!, make sure you post some pics when in the tank.

Yep, that's a really healthy looking spread of Java Moss. Good job you asked, what a waste that would have been :good:

Just a quick question, I currently have it outside in the garden, as I need to spray the back of my tank yet and fill it up. How long will it survive out there? does it need to be in water? I can keep it damp until my tank is ready I guess.

it will survive if you keep it wet. Once it dries out it will be no good though.

its java moss id watch out if i was you it will grow like mad your tank will be fill with it so if you don't have time two keep cutting the java moss back then id take it off
