Hey peoples, I need some input:
Over the past few months, I have been slacking off my catbox cleaning duities. My dad, just this morning got a little mad, and he made a bet with me. The bet is this:
He is betting his 55 gallon tank and I'm betting my tanks on the idea that if I can keep the catbox clean (i.e. clean it everyday) for the rest of the year, he'd loose his 55 gallon and I'd gain it ( :hyper: ), but, if I lose and he wins, I lose my 5, 10, 20, and 30 gallon aquariums and he gains them.
I'm certain I can do it (especially with the fate of my aquariums on the line), but I need a second opinion.
Should I do it?
Cheers,
GobyMaster

If your SURE you will clean the catbox every day, go for it. Although, I would see if he'll add a clause that excludes you from cleaning if your are sick.

Or buy a Littermaid litter box, I love mine, it does most of the cleaning for you, and it entertains the cats. Or at least it does my two morons, they love watching the cleaning rake move. :fun:

I would do it, but don't bet all your tanks, maybe just the 5, 20 and 30. That way you are losing 55 gallons and so is he. And if you lose at least you will still have your 10 gal.

Nope, there's no way of getting a tank back.
The only thing I'm worried about is my 30. That's my favorite tank I have (see link in signature), and it has some fish in it I've had for quite awhile.
I'm sure I can do it, but I'm just wondering: Would it be better to put all my tanks on the line (it has to be all of them), or just to buy a 55 gallon tank off the internet (for about $320)?
Besides, I think he's backing off from the deal. He knows I can do it, and I think he doesn't want to lose his 55.
I'll keep you guys updated.
Cheers,
GobyMaster

I agree with Cheesy Feet.

I would say this old woman says your not being a fair dad.

Does he want his tank anyway and will you have to clean that too.

I agree with giving responsibility but to make a child bet is wrong it is the start of Gambling.

He is an adult you are doing his parental duties and being very responsible. Thanks and a reminder how much it helps when you do it and how good it is for the cat should be enough.

I feel if you want his tank it should be a reward with what you have earned and one should lose nothing but his respect for that day if you dont do it.

Adults need to be fair and if you do two days out of three that is not bad.

Shame on your dad.

? Do you have pocket money if your having the bet I'd ensure it will cover all the upkeep of those tanks including stock!!!!

Haha well if I know if my dad said it, I would have to be damn gullable to do it...All what would happen is I would do it for a year (well I wouldn't, because i know what would happen) and he would say I couldn't have it  .However he doesn't have any tanks... :look:

when i was a kid and didnt do my house work that was required very little but had to do it i had my privlages took away
how long does it take to clean it out you just been lazy

cheers dane

I... don't understand.

Does your dad's tank have fish in them? Does yours? Do you guys live together? If so, don't you get the same benefit no matter what? I mean, you can see each other's tanks, right? If you won his tank, wouldn't you have to keep his fish?

Lol, good point.Though I spose if it's 'his own' he can change the stocking and everything.

I say theres really no point to it, the tanks are in the same house I assume, and if all of them are full of water I seriously doubt that your dad wants to empty them and move them to a different area, the tank stocks would probably remain the same as would the placement of the tanks.

In all actuallity it's pointless, I'd just clean the cat box anyways, that way you get your dad off your back, mabye make a different deal with him, like $5 every week that the cat liter box is perfect, and if it's not then you owe him $5.
