ive got guppies and still have space for more fish.
are mosquito fish good fish? i really like them even though they arnt fancy or anything. is there anything i need to know about keeping them?

There Devils, they like ripping up fins and eating all the food in the tank, not to deter you. The females grow big, up to 2 and a half inches and IMO need 5 gallons plus for multiple females. Also make sure the density of them is small, often times the bigger and smaller females will fight for food and one will starve.Ive kept mosquito fish since my start in the fish hobby and there Very hardy, happen to be invasive in some parts and are prolific breeders.

why not have endlers? they are similar to guppies and quite pretty.

Nogo there, Gambusia are nasty fish and even kill cichlids given a chance

i just got some. they have their own 5 gallon tank thou. they are awesome, thats my opinion.

really? how many? there not suitable for 5 gallon tanks IMO

3. they seem happy and not crowded.2 f 1 m

hmm what colors are they? there two fish named mosquito fish.

okay so there gambusia, females grow large and in small spaces are known to be agressive and murder tankmates, ive noticed that usally the females kill other females.

There are two types of mosquito fish Heteranderia, one of the smallest fish in the world and very gentile fish.
And Gambusia holbrooki are bulky nasty fish.

From the tan colour i'm guessing it's heterandria formosa (if it has a black line in the mid of the body)

nope. they are gambusia. and they are calm and kind to tankmates

Nice one, no way they will be "nice:" to there tankmates, ive kept them for 7 years and there as mean as bleep.

i have never seen mine chase each other at all. well, the male chases the females sometimes, obviously. my guppy pair is meaner to each other than my mosquito fish.
also, i made a mistake, the tank is 8g not 5g

well the guppy pair is probaly meaner since guppies need trios. well 8 gallons is better, but dont be suprised if you find a dead fish, there so agressive, i must emphasize that.
