Should I Get A Betta..?

So I have a 30L (Clear Seal) tank and was thinking I could get a heater and put a single betta in there? Is this tank big enough (I did really want an angelfish but I know this tank is too small) and also I don't know anything about bettas (the LFS sells them as 'fighting fish') so please tell me EVERYTHING I need to know about keeping bettas and whether or not they make a good pet! Thank you!!

Definitely recommend a betta.

Make it nicely planted and check your pump isn't too strong, lots of betta threads to have a read up on, plus pics are a must

Bettas are great fish! You should definitely get one!

Awesome that topic was really helpful. My mother really wanted me to get a betta in my community tank but I tried to tell her it will be aggressive. Now my 30L tank is spare i will defo get a betta my filter is a bit strong but I can face it the other way to slow the current for the betta.

I have my filter spout pointed at my heater and that slowed my filter perfectly.
 
Bettas are great... I've had mine a couple of months now.  The only thing is I discovered I now need to fertilize my plants in there as he doesn't produce enough waste for them as my previous fish did.

I say you should go get one they are really nice fish.

Bettas are amazing and in most cases they learn like dogs! They'll play with you and enjoy you playing with them. You can teach them a lot of things! Goodluck and post pictures if you do get one!

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get one now it probs won't be for a couple months though cuz I get my money next month so I can buy a heater and I wanna make sure I buy a betta that has really pretty markings, most I have seen so far are plain black colour, still pretty but I like colourful ones !

Oooh. I want a black betta!Also you know to make sure they are healthy and dont have missing or torn fins, fin rot, are active etc. I was very lucky because the one I got was the colors I wanted and he was active.

I dont think purple is a breeding color. Its blues, yellow, reds, orange,cellophane, opague white, black, copper and the bi colors.....

Yeh i know you can get purples but I also knew I wouldn't likely come across one anytime soon. Anyway, at the local aquatics store today I just couldn't resist, I bought this blue one ...
