Hey again! An update on my Velvet sick fishies...

They look like they've fully recovered and I've finished the required doses a day ago... But when I shine a flashlight on Dion I still see gold stuff on him. I'm going to change his water today... But should I continue to dose? =/

Dion literally can't stay still for a second! He's not flashing anymore and he races to the food every time, even before it drops. He flares at the mirror and everything now. =D

Levi... He hasn't really changed. He never showed any symptoms in the first place... What about him?

-x-

Thanks to Netty for helping me before 8D

No problem Aleydis glad to hear they are both doing well :good:

Does it say anything on the meds about continuing if there are still signs? If not then maybe leave the meds but keep the lighting off and temp up for abit longer and also regular water changes just in case there are still any parasites in your tank. If you have gravel I would give that a really good vac regularly as this is one of the places where they live.

Looks like you're getting there though which is really good news :D

Um no... There's nothing about dosing again if necessary... In fact the medicine warns to not overdose.

=/

...I actually dont think they had velvet at all now... 'Cause Dion still has the same amount of gold shininess on him and Levi... Well he was probably never sick in the first place, and maybe the gold on him have always been there? =/

I dunno...

Maybe Dion never had velvet and he just got sick because he was in a 1gal before and he wanted more room? =/

Btw-

How should I clean Dion's old 1gal tank? How do I kill off any remaining velvet parasites without killing the good bacteria? Thanks Netty. =)

I would say that with the flicking against things and the gold on him he definately had it. Some fish can have that sort of shimmering colouring to them but with his other symptoms it does point to Velvet.

Is the one gal filtered. If not then there will be no good bacteria to kill off as it lives in the filter media. If that's the case then just give it a really good scrub with very hot water and rinse well. Some people use bleach but I've always been abit wary of using chemicals to clean tanks with.

Ok then... So... I'm going to change his water again and give him another dose just in case... Same for levi, and then 2 days after I'll change the water again and that's it.

I think I'm going to leave Dion in the 5gal. He probably likes it better there. Levi got used to his 1gal because he was living in a 0.5L tank once (I hate myself for that) and then a 1L tank (Still hating myself)... So when he finally got his 1gal he was happy as hell. xD He'll probably continue to be.

So now I has an empty 1gal. =/ I posted a topic on what I can put in a 1gal, but no one answered, so I'm gonna ask you! 8D

What can I put in a 1gal? I know I can't put no fish in there... But what about shrimp, frogs and snails and stuff? As long as there's something living in there, I don't mind. 8D

Good idea.....I think Dion will be much happier have more room to swim around and explore in :good:

For the one gal, I have no idea lol I've never kept shrimp or snails so not sure what requirements they have.

Lmfao. Thanks Netty. =) -Hug- You saved Dion's life. <3

This is the first time I've actually had like... Actual fish medicine in my house 8DD IT FEELS SO GUUD. Before I just had Melafix and Pimafix. =)

Lol.....you'll be well prepared next time you have a problem then Dr. Aleydis. It's always worth having a few meds in. An anti bacterial med would be another one to get in stock just in case.
