Should I Be Concerned?

I bought a new platy home the other day, and I am a bit concerned.
When I first put him in the tank, he seemed rather lethargic, and has been hanging around either the bottom or top of the tank without moving much. At that time I just put it down to the stress of the new tank, and have been keeping an eye on him.
However, it has been 3 days now and he is still showing some of the same behaviour, although I have also seen him swimming around normally. He seems to swim around a lot more normally when I am not near the tank. At feeding time I have seen him swim for pieces of flake, so he does seem to be eating a little, although sometimes he spits it back out again.
The tank is in an area that does get some 'traffic'. There are only 2 of us in the house but it is on the way to the kitchen.
There are no physical signs of sickness, he looks perfectly healthy, has good coloration and isn't clamping his fins.
I also added 2 rummynoses to the tank the same day as him, and they are doing very well.

So is it possible that he is just taking some time to settle in? How long should it take for a fish to get acclimatised to its tank and surroundings?

Or is it more likely that he has some sort of bacterial problem?

What are the water stats; ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, ph, etc? How long has the tank been running?
Is he in the tank in your sig? Does the CAE seem to bother him? Are his scales sticking out from his sides, like a pinecone?
I hate to say it, if he seems lethargic and his scales are sticking out, he might have dropsy. There isn't much hope for him if it is.
Are you able to quarantine him in another tank?

Sadly it sounds like i was already ill at the lfs, they hang around the top of the tank and bottom when they are dying, if there are no physical symtoms it could be a bacteria infection, try some shelled peas if it still eating, good luck.

Well I seperated him out and gave him a dose of melafix (I don't know if that was ever going to be helpful but it was the only thing I had), but he died this morning.
I am pretty sure my water is fine - after all, the rummynoses I added at the same time are doing really well. The tank is only about 6 weeks old but it has full cycled. I did a water test and there was no ammonia or nitrite present.
So looks like he had the problem from the LFS. This is actually the second platy I have bought from this store that has died not long after bringing it home. I don't think I will buy any more platys from this store.

It seems to me that my blue gourami jsut finishsed what yuor fish is exhibiting. It took him three to four days to actually come from behind anything then when I cam enear the tank he hid. It is now day fice and he came out to eat while i was feeding the others he seems to now finally be adjusting maybe give yours more time.
