You wish to put in betta's tank? I would think a clean glass one would be ok but is that a plastic shot glass and is that painted or stickered on?

I have to say I agree with you Hawkins but it is down to personal taste, though it has given me an idea of getting a new clean glass shot glass as a mini cave in my tank!

What's the point of a mini-cave designed to hide the betta if it is clear and doesn't hide the betta? Just asking. It doesn't seem natural to me especially when you can easily create caves with rocks, terra cotta pots, and coconut shells that look better and will provide the betta with a secure hiding place because it's opaque. You can even create them by arranging wood pieces. Even piping works as long as it's constructed from a non-harmful substance and fits the betta, though it's not my favorite.

I'm not trying to knock you down. It is a cute idea in theory, but is it really practical?

If I may ask what makes it look horrible as you put it? That was un called for, Have you ever heard of an ole saying if you can't say something nice need not say anything at all. But any way I don't drink so it is clean, I t has never been used just been on a shelf. It is glass not plastic, And I think it is painted not a sticker.
So other then some people thinking it is ugly and horrible dose anyone think it would be safe in a bettas tank? I already have a cave for him thats not why I want this in there, I just wanted to add some color and decoration.
Thanks,
Amy

I'm sorry for saying it looks horrible, that is just my opinion.

I guess if you are a Giants fan then you will like their merchandise.

Usually if it is safe for humans to put near their mouths, it is usually safe in a fish tank.

I can't imagine it would do any harm.

ps. Welcome to the forum :good:

Its totaly up to you what you want to do. As above said if its save to go into our month then should be for a fishy. Some people dont likes your idea which is their opinion but you have a opinion too and might think some one elses idea or tank might be ugly as well. It goes both ways - not getting involed though just stating my opinion...

There is different ways of bringing colour into a tank though. Depending on tank size. Making it natural looking brings the most colours into a tank. This would be my idea...

White Sand, A coconut cave or something for the betta to hide in (Woods rocks etc) loads of plants or one very planted erea. You can get some many different plants and so many different coloured plants too. Some black or grey pebbles on the sand would break the white up and would bring a mixture of colours into the tank...

Well good luck and remember to post pics when you have finished,
And welcome to the forum

Charlie :D

I have a son who collects shotglasses, but is not into fish. If he were I could see him putting a Chicago White Sox shotglass in there. If you want to create a theme you could find a small, empty, and clean airplane bottle from someplace & place that in there as well.

I've seen stranger decorations, if you like it go for it.

I think we can agree it is down to personal taste, as long as it is safe for the fish and the surface of the shotglass is not going to leach into the water, then go for it ;)

I didn't get hold of a shot glass in the end and got a terracotta pot but too big -doh! Second try - ding.

A note on personal taste, I have natural looking sand and gravel in most of my tanks. If I had my way I would have luminescent pink (which most people would cringe at as an eye sore), the only reason i have held back is because would like more natural setting for the fish up to a point :) Otherwise pink all the way!

Have an opinion, pick your own decs to your taste, just make sure safe on the inhabitants. (p.s. sorry if upset anbody I am not a sporty fan one bit...pink on the otherhand ;))

Hey! I didn't say it was horrible, just not practical! They way you've quoted looks like your commenting on another post. Be careful. If you have a problem with a specific post, quote that one. Unless you have a problem with mine?

With my first betta i had bright pink gravel lol. All the people which saw it was like ewww but I loved it... Its all to do with personal taste aint it :)

What is the design on the shot glass? I can't imagine anything that's going to be washed repeatedly having water-soluble paint, but it could be some kind of rubbery stuff that the betta could nibble off and get an intestinal blockage. It SHOULD be safe but I'm not 100% on that. Personally I think it's an interesting idea. A few of my tanks are basically naturals but with one 'man made' object in it (usually terracotta). It's sort of like, somebody dropped this into a river/bog/pond.

Well... I would set that shot glass in a tub of water, and over a week or week and a half test the pH levels to be sure that it doesn't affect the betta " ]

Personally... I agree with the others, that does not fit my tastes at alll.
But I do have a 10 gallon tank that is alcohol themed.
With empty beer bottles, wine glasses, and shot glasses all over [:
Of which I boiled all of the bottles before I threw them in the tank.
