Shirley Aquatics Recomended ?

hi im considering purchasing a tank from shirley aquatics who have a branch in oxford & birmingham has anyone on here had any dealings with them good or bad ?

Well...
I've only been to the Shirley branch and so far:
The cabinet to the tank we ordered was damaged
4 out of 10 danios we bought died
2 out of 2 assasin snails never came out of their shells and were declared empty after 2 weeks
6 out of 6 harlequin rasboras had mouth fungus and then died
Everything I bought from the closer LFS, Tri-Mar and from TFF members is alive and doing well!

Needless to say I no longer buy livestock from them =( which is a shame as they have a fantastic range.
Oh and be prepared to double check any info given. Some staff are spot on, some are OK and some are pretty clueless. That said certain members know more about specific areas, for example the guy who knows loads about reptiles and stuff knows very little about tropicals.

theres also 1 in stratford upon avon which is far better, earlswood 1 is actually really good tho and would recommend over shirley aqautics anyday but having said that ive brought fish from shirley with no probs at all so i guess its hit and miss from all lfs really

OP which 1 was u planing on trying shirley or oxford?

Ah, sorry, didn't realise there was more than one Maidenhead Aquatics - just might have to seek out the Stratford one and take a peek =)
