Ok, Setting up my tank, I allways here do what you like, but I cant help but think of what others would think..... Ive allways liked shipwrecks and was wondering if some one can tell me if they like the plastic aerating ships or the ceramic ships that do nothing..........

Hi!
I think it depends on what you like and what else you are putting with it. I have one that is a cave for my cory.
Do what you like. Which one do you look at the most? That is what you need.(the one you keep going back to look at)
I hope that helps.

Hello and thank for your reply.
Thats just the thing, I like both, I like shipwrecks overall. I wanted to know which people preffered.

I also see you live in La. I do to......

i tend to prefer the ceramic ships but be warned when cleaning them the paint can come off which is a pain. ships arnt to my taste i prefer the natural look but i used to like the adventure look i had a castle and a shipreck and the air powered ones arnt halve as nice, theyre usualy made of an unattractive plastic too.

Our tank has a shipwreck, with an air outlet bit that we don't use.

The fish seem to enjoy swimming over and around it, having a little explore. Plus it has a secluded area under the main deck, like a cave, where the Corys like to have a lie down.

Removed it recently to clean off snails, and they all looked sad for about a week till I put it back in today. Now the Corys spend most their time round it, bless 'em.

Heres my wreck........ What do you think of it?
Also, I was wondering,,, Can you see eany green? If so do you think its alot?

I like the ship wreck 'theme' myself and the first thing I bought for my tank was a hundred dollar broken shipwreck decor. I took it out for a while and it is now back in the tank. It it the ceramic type and I havent had any real chipping or paint flaking off of it, but it did get damaged in a move not too long ago and I had to put it in the tank 'backwards' (as it origonally was anyways) to hide the damage.

The only thing I have to say about this ceramic ship wreck is that it does have some hollow spots around the edges (most likely from the mold it was cast from) that my pleco likes to cram himself into. It makes for a fun time trying to get him out of when I take the decor out of the tank for a monthly 'scrub down'.

P.S. I love your tank. It is very 'crisp' looking. I am sort of weird in the way that I like both natural 'biotope' type tanks as well as the less natural or whimsical type tanks with all the bright colors and off decor to look at.

Yeah, Me to...... I like decorated and natural types........ I have a natural 10gallon, but I took it down...
The only thing I have aginst natural is that they look sloopy with the plant and stuff.....

And thanks for the comment...

If it was me, I would get a decent size rock to put in and prop the two sides of the ship so it looks like it landed on it.
I am working out my plan for my 10 gal. now. I am planning to make it a jail done in black and white. With a key room and two cells. It is my hospital tank. ( To explain : my husband is an Asst. Warden ) I thought it would be cute. :fun:
I'm in North La. Where are you?

Hey... also... I did this... get some heavy grade tin foil and crumple it. Then somewhat streighten it and put a light coat of spray paint on. You can put that behind your tank for a background. It works pretty well. It is cheap, easy, and you can make it any color you want. Just don't paint too thick. You want it to still be reflective.

Yep, I like the shipwreck theme as well.

At the end of the day it's not a matter of what others do or don't like, it's what makes you happy.

PS. Like the skelleton as well, would go well with the skull you got in ya tank.

Hey. I looked at your info and noticed that you are only about 5 mos. younger than my son. You seem to like alot of the same stuff too. I think that is kind of cool. :D

He is also wanting a tank. He just cant decide what he wants. I am going to get him one, but I waiting for him to make up his mind what kind of fish he wants so we can get the right kind of set up. The only thing he has pretty much stuck with is a blue lobster. He also tends to like the snake looking fish and puffers. He still changes his mind too much though.

I think he wants to do bright red as his bite you color. I have tried to find red gravel, but have had no luck. I have ordered red 2 times. It comes labeled red, but looks very pink!

My daughter likes the pink. She is getting a tank too. She is 3 and knows what she wants. She is getting neons.

I am looking around to see if I can maybe pick up some used tanks fairly cheap, I want to get a larger one too. By the time it is over we are going to have tanks everywhere! That's fine by me though, I love them.
I am looking for a 20gal, 30gal, and 55gal. I would like one also that is somewhere between 75 and 100gal.
I have found a few, but they were too far away for me to get them. I will keep looking though. If you happen to know anyone that has any... let me know!

That's the same boat I got! Well, only the half on the right of the picture.

Thank you all for your replies........

Also, ICEEGRL
I have seen Red Gravel at several pet store... Greco's Petstore, Petsmart, and Just Pets.
I live in the mid-part, I guess..... Slaughter is the city...... Cloose to Zachery.
And as far as the tanks, Try Wal-Mart...... They have 55gallons and 29gallons(cloose to 30)
and as far as the larger tanks like 100gallons, try petstores........... Hope this helps, and good luck. And I hope your children enjoy there tanks. And yes, your son sounds just like me...... I like all fish and at times I want to change what I have in my tank..... I have a hard time making up my mind..... So many types.

Also Richie Hell, nice to know we have the same ornament it our tanks.... At least halve. I have seen these in halfs, called Half shipwreck. Then I went to my petstore and got one called Split Shipwreck........ It was calling my name.
