one of my golden platy is behaving rather oddly - not sure if it's shimmying though. it's going backwards and forwards very quickly up against the glass for a few minutes the swimming round the tank then starting the rocking over again. Can anyone help? PH is 7, ammonia 0 but nitrite has risen to 0.25 - am about to do a partil water change

had another trauma today as my male betta died very suddenly - only got him yesterday and it appeared to be swim bladder as he was lying on the bottom of the tank this morning on his side - moved him into a seperate tank with fresh water but he died about a half hour later. Have to take a water sample into the pet shop tomorrow - what am I doing wrong?????

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Do a water change as that nitrite reading is high, probably why the platys is swimming funny stress.

doing a 50% water change as we speak - will that be enough?

How many gallons is the tank.

Make it 40% fifty a bit much, good luck.

Thanks for that - water change done now. How often should I check Nitrite now - daily? or more often?

Daily to make sure it dosn't shut up as a reading above 020 is lethal to fish, good luck.
