Heya i got some shells i collected on holiday, if i washed em or boiled them could i use em in my aquarium. there just clam shells? Mite be a silly question just makin sure :p :S

Ive seen shells in tanks before.. i should imagine you could boil them and it would be ok..

But i would wait until others reply for confirmation, as i am just guessing.

Not the best plan, they will dissolve (or similar), making the water harder and increasing ph.

I stand corrected.. as i said, you should wait for more knowledgeable confirmation...

Thanks feeshy ;)

I feel sorry for the chinese restaurant who has shells in thier tank now :(

Well, from what I've gathered they do. They're pretty much made of calcium, so use should be similar to that of rocks like limestone. But if you cover the shells in something waterproof and non-toxic, like silicone, they'll be fine.

BTW. feeshy.. i meant someone more knowlegeable being someone like you who knew more about it.. (refering to my first post) hope you didnt think i meant wait for someone other than you.. ;)

again.. like the other thread, just checking :good: . we seem to be possibly missunderstanding each other today lol.. its so tricky to gauge comments on forums somtimes, and easy to interpret things in the wrong way..

anyway.. babble babble.. glad thats cleared up..
