Just a quick question, since I've read very different stuff on different sites so I am a little confused. Is it possible to keep a pair of Neolamprologus brevis in a fifteen gallon aquarium, or how many Neolamprologus multifasciatus could you safely keep in it? Thanks in advance

A pair of Brevis would be fine in a 15G tank. As for Multis, you could keep about 4-6 in that size tank. If they do end up breeding you may end up eventually having to get a bigger tank but other than that you'll be fine.

Both are colonial fish so you'd be okay but there are some like stappersii or similis that while they can colonize tend to do better in larger tanks with a lot of shells. In any case, the more shells you have, the better.
