How do

I got up this morning and notice my sharkcatfish lying on its side on the bottom, I have read these fish can knock themselves out, but I was able to watch the tank for 20 mins and it didnt move, is it in a coma ?

Arent dead fish supposed to float ?

Ive got two of these and they seemed very well last night, the one that is on the bottom has grown bigger and gone darker than the other

I see

Some must float as ive seen em floating on top in my mates tank

I would imagine other one is gonna die as well then !!

Gutted

Is its gills moving? If its gills or mouth are not moving, its probably dead and should be removed from the tank as soon as posible.
However, if it is dead, a healthy fish in a good tank set up will not die for no reason, have you tested your water for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates? If not, you should do so ASAP.

Shark catfish are brackish. Maybe thats why they are dying

I'm sure I red that shark catfish play dead when they are frightened. Maybe check whether he is doing this?

...

yeh I will check when I get home

It does say on the web that these fish have very bad eyesight and often knock themselves out, but to be out for 20 mins seems a while

I was under the impression that they start of in Freshwater then slowly add salt to the water
