I am thinking of getting a 10-gal tank with 3 whiteskirt tetras (actually moving them from the tank I have them in now, and replacing them with something else) and adding a small shark. What kind of shark would work? Also, is there any other fish I could add with them? (I'm thinking I'd like a semi-aggressive tank, since I have the nice community tank.)
Thanks!

I really can't think of any shark that would be suitable. Bala sharks grow too big and like to shoal; red tailed sharks, I have read, need a 20 gal or larger; and rainbow sharks I'm not sure about. Maybe rosaline sharks from Africa would be ok, but I don't know much about them either...

What about the convicts? I guess I'm looking for something different than what I have now (d. gourami, cory cats, DPs) and I've only eve had a community tank... never any semi-/aggressive fish before.
What would you put in a 10-gal planted tank?
Thanks for your help!

Well, I would not put convics with anything but them selves as they breed readily and when they do, torment anything alive in the tank. You could try a ram or small loaches...maybe some African tetras and they are different than their common South American counterparts. Maybe a puffer but be careful with them.

Sounds good and I would go with the cories as otos are shoaling fish too but need algea to eat-they're not scavangers and the sparkling not honey gouramis because they are smaller:thumbs:

Uh...according to Dwarf_Dude's post in the Cichlid section, found Here, you need a 20 gallon for a pair of Rams. I agree with this, because looking at my pair of Rams, and the way they like to move around a lot, I can't see them in a 10. Also, if there is any aggression, not much room to get away. Sorry. :/

And Honey Gouramis get to 1.5" long, usually. I think they'll be nice in that tank, as they tend to not be as shy as the Sparklers. :) Though you could do either one.

Good luck!
