There! ;0)
I have a 70 litre tank at the moment. I do tend to overstock my tanks... but all the fish are fine. Well, except my two danios. When I bought them I wasn't told that they prefer to be kept in small groups. And after about a month they have just started nipping eachothers fins and chasing eachother around. At first I thought they were going to breed but then found out that they will not single out an indiviual if I bought more of them. So, I am getting another tank for x-mas (two more days to go! :D ) and I am going to put them in the new tank and buy about four more. I will set the new tank up on saturday, will it be ok to add the two danios the day after or shall I wait for another few days? I know that they are very hardy little fish so I thought they would be ok but I need to check! :)

you can clone your existing tank and then you can add fish immediatly.

to clone your tank just follow these few steps.

1. fill a bucket 3/4 with tank water
2. take existing filter media and rinse in bucket
3. take new filter media and rinse in the now dirty water
4. put new filter media in filled tank (make sure filled tank has dechlorinator in it)
4a. (optional) add dirty water to new tank. The filter will soon clear it and also this will collect more bacteria on the filter media
5. jod done

doing the above will transfer a lot of bacteria to you new filter media and create no need for a cycle.
If you want that little bit more bacteria, you can fill up an old (clean) stocking leg with you current substrate and lay this on you new substrate after two days remove the stocking and put substrate back into you old tank.
this allows the bacteria in the existing substrate to multiply and migrate into the new media.

HTH.

BTW well done for listing to advise previously given and geting more danios

:) Also, are leopard danios the sort of the same as zebras? Do they like to be kept in small groups too? Would I be able to keep some in a community tank? I figured that you are the danio expert here! :D

all danionins (danio family) are community fish and need to be kept in groups, check out my website for more species that are available
