could someone let me know the sexes of these 3 rams please and verify that there are indeed bolivian

Hi there,

They are indeed bolivian rams (Mikrogeophagus altispinosus). As to sex, they only way is to wait until you have fry, then you know you have a pair (seriously, I haven't found any reliable method for sexing these guys).

Sexing Bolivian Rams is quite difficult as they become sexually dimorphic as they grow. Based on the pics (and I am quite possibly wrong) 1 and 3 look like males (more certain of 3), 2 a female. Again, this is VERY inaccurate. What is the water temperature of your tank? Your rams look a little drab. Try increasing your temp to about 80 to see their true colors.

water temp is at 80 i noticed myself the colours would come and go theyve only been in tank 3 days i just put it down to stress cause there seemed to be a bit of bullying going on so took one of the males out i did a water test aswell they were

ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 40
ph 7.6
high ph 8.0

so wether its the ph i dont know but keeping a close eye on things anyway any other suggestions would be appreciated
