Hi,

I bought a new acei today to go with the male / female pair of aceis I already have, after the male was harrasing the female constantly. Anyway, both myself and the LFS guy were certain that the acei was female - no egg spots, kind of a more rounded female face, lightish colour. YET, the new acei ignores the female constantly and chases the male shaking and putting its (not sure of pronoun yet) fin up, harrasing the male fish into teh corner of the tank. Initially the male was doing the chasing like he was with the female in the tank -- I thought it was just a mating dance. Now things seem to have reversed.

Is this conclusive evidence that myself and the LFS guy got it wrong and this fish is really male?

BTW: the male has egg spots, the female doesn't the new fish (male or female !?) has no egg spots and appears female in colouration etc. There is a fish at the LFS that does have eggspots but is super pale -- could this actually be female?

I only got the fish today so i'll watch it closely and look to return it if it's causing the existing fish trouble.
