Sexing Rotkeil

I purchased these two rotkeils today and although they,re quite battered looking they have already started bringing their colours up and relaxing.I was wondering if anyone could sex these fish by looking at the video which im going to try and put up. Blimey they are in a bad way The one that hoggs the camera the most is male, I think the other is male too but their colour is really pale and odd. Females have a plain face, this is my female rotkeil

and this is my male

The females dont have spots/markings on their gill plates and the males have squiggly lines on their faces.

Nice lot of baby sevs you have in the tank too, what are they?

We bought them as green sevs out of two different stores.The two dark ones have more blue on their faces. Hoping to get another two rotkiels soon in the hope that we get a pair eventually. Have been searching for them for two months but very hard to get here in Northern Ireland.

IVE HEARD OF PEOPLE GETTING FISH IMPORTED FROM ENGLISH SUPPLIERS BUT DONT KNOW WHERE. OOHHHH MY HEARTS A FLUTTER JUST GOT A PHONECALL FROM LFS. THE NEXT TWO ROTTIES HAVE COME OUT OF QUARANTINE AND WE,RE GETTING THEM THIS AFTERNOON. CANT REMEMBER BEING THIS EXCITED SINCE I STILL BELIEVED IN SANTA. DOES THAT MAKE ME A SAD PERSON

Patience my freind. Gonna go get them now. Startin to think these two tanks are gonna need thinned out a bit. Gonna be a mid season fish sale comin up soon. Cant over crowd my babies. Typical woman

Got them home one male one female.Gonna let them float for awhile b4 i put them in tank. Male very nervous. Not sure if they,re a pair. get some photos up as soon as they go into tank.

Got them home. Theyre a bit battered looking on it as well with the male missing most of his pectoral fins(think thats the right name).See what you mean by the plain face on the female. Now we,re gonna have to work out how many of our other fish we,re getting rid off. My next mission is to try for some heros notatus. I can see us ending up with all sevs in both tanks.
