Does anyone know how long it will be before I will be able to tell who's male and female? My platy fry are about a week and a half.

Hmm as soon as you start seeing the little guys gunopodiums start to roll up and form a long thin structure, then it's time. That normally takes about 2 months I believe though.

That's about right. Two full months is generally when you can tell. Just be aware that the presence of a mature male will slow the development process of other males, so you may be looking at a bit more time than two months.

that is true, my males sex out at 12-16 weeks because of this reason and i find that females develope even slower because of this reason.

Could tell mine were females at a month and a half. Though, it all really depends on how fast they grow, I'm guessing you could guess earlier if you fed food that made them grow faster.

Awesome thanks a lot. Now I have a general idea of when to start looking for a difference in them. I got a little ways to go still.
