Sexing Pearl Gouramis?

Purchased 3 Pearl Gourami and 2 Sumo Loaches the other day to go in a 100L tank, just curious... how do you sex them?

The male gourami will have a longer top fin and also will have orange on its chest area.

What Mark said, plus the male's overall shape is different & mature males have fringes on their anal fin.

I've had two males and one female together. No problems. I guess it depends on the individual fish.

All fish personalities vary a bit but Pearls are usually the most docile, peachful of all of them.

I would add another female or two to the mix just to be safe, if you have the room of course. What size tank are they in?

I love Pearl Gouramis too, they're my favorite fish bar none. I also love my little Dwarf Gourami & I wish I could keep him in the same tank, but the Opaline female probably wouldn't allow it.

Thanks! I posted it in the "Show off your tank" thread & nobody commented on it one way or the other. I was a bit disappointed. I know it's going to look better when I do a water change tonight & spread some of the plants out more. I also have a new background to replace the plain blue...............

Thanks again. I'm doing a 50 percent water change today so I can re adjust the plants, which are significantly larger than they are in my signature pic. I'm also changing the background out for an underwater blue look instead of the plain blue.

I'll post the pics in this thread as well as the "Show off your tank" thread when I'm done.
