Hi

I'm a bit curious about my fry. they are all gupp's at the mo but how can you distinguish between m/f? at the moment there are no obvious signs.

i've heard about some fish needing different temps to be either male of female would this apply to gupp's? Also how long before thier tales develop, some of them haven a tiny amount of colour on thier tales but nothing major

any info greatly appreciated! :D

Cheers

You can't tell the sex of guppy fry until they are more than a month old. After a month they start developing the gonopodium. Some develop earlier than others though.

All guppy fry that I've had so far have shown a gravid spot at 2 weeks old if they are female. This has stayed consistant over many births in my tanks so if you see a dark spot then you can be fairly safe its a female. Plus the males tend to get their colours quicker and they are more brighter.
