I got 2 of these in my community tank - collecting another 4 in a few weeks when they have finished quarentine , they constantly swim around together and are really cute and get on well with the podwer blue dwarfs and all the other fish, just wondering if there is any way of sexing them .

Thanks Sarah x

in that pic u can see the male on the bottom and the female on the top.

the female is silver with a brown line through it sometimes it can show on some more than others

the male as u can see will go t them colours when breeding but will be the yellow/orange colour normally

Pip,there are two different kinds of honeys, the true ones, that Rock mentions, and the little tiny yellow ones (I have these ones, with a successful spawn).
They are totally different body shapes, the true ones I believe are more like normal dwarfs, the little yellow ones are virtually impossible to sex until they come into breeding condition.
The only telltale early sign I can tell you to look out for in the little ones,is that the male has a very pale, almost opaline blue edge to his dorsal which develops pretty early on,while the female's dorsal develops an orange edge.
You will definitely know when mature though,as the males start getting black throats (you'll notice a few black scales on the gill plates at first).
