Hi, we got 2 Bolivian rams a month ago, and wanted a pair, but the man in the fish shop didn't even know which was male or female. Now I think we have 2 males, who on occasion try to give eachother the kiss of death! Does anyone know how you can tell the sexes apart? Also is it ok to keep them together, the tank is 30 gallons, with other peaceful shoaling fish and corys. They each have their own coconut which they guard fiercely...
Can anyone tell me how to upload a photo onto this?

These are a little bit more difficult to sex than normal ramrezi's Females dont develop the same mauve/reddish blush to their abdomen as ramrezi. so the only reliable indication in adult Bolivians is that the males caudal fin extensions along with the front and rear rays of the dorsal fin are much larger. The male tends to be slightly larger although this is not always evident.
