Sexing Bolivian Rams

So i decided my center piece fish would be Bolivian rams seeing as they can grow to have some nice colors with out the sensitivity of blue rams.

I went to my LFS and i told them i needed a pair and the guys all didnt know how to sex them. They werent too young either almost 2 1/2 inches long.

My question is, whats a sure way i can sex these rams? all the sites ive been to tell me different things.

The female has a pink/red belly and is generally smaller than the male. Also, the black blotch on the side should help you determine what sex. If it is a plain black blotch then it is male, if it has blue speckles in and around the blotch then it is female.
