Sexing Bettas?

Hey all, it's been a while since I last bred bettas, I used to supply stores but that was about 6 years ago. I was wondering, how exactly do you sex bettas?? (I forgot *slaps self in head*).

Can't remember the name of it, but females have a little white dot inbetween their anal fins?

I'm guessing you mean young bettas... I sex them by aggression (9 out of 10 fish that I jar for being nasty turn out to be male) and by their anal fin. The young males develop an extended point on the back of it while females have more like just a corner.

I haven't found the egg spot to be a good indicator because many of my young males also show them (I know on the males it must be the anal pore but it looks similar)

Excellent, thanks much for the info... Now when I start breeding again I won't have to be so worried when it comes to the bettas lol. The area where I'm breeding them is going to be bloody stocked on the shelves
