Hi all,

I need help, I'm pretty much sure this is a female but I would like some expert advice.

I only say female due to the pink belly which isn't very clear?!

No expert but it looks like a female. The blue dots can be seen through the black dot and the fins look more rounded.
Also generally if they swim around with there dorsal fin down most of the time it's a female. Less accurately, males tend to have an elongated second spike on their dorsal fin.

Yes they are very young.

Oh really what should I look out for?

Also I'm feeding them on brine shrimp and tetra prima pellets, seem to love them both but should I be feeding them something else to help aid there growth?

Males: No blue sheen on the black spot, no black on the ventral fins, elongated spines 1-4 on some individuals, the anal fin extends past the base of the tail in most cases.

Females: Blue sheen on the black spot, black on the ventral fins, pink bellies in some individuals, the anal fin doesn't extend past the base of the tail in most cases.

Feed them a variety, Brine Shrimp are poor nutritionally, try boiled chicken, blood worms, cyclops, chopped prawn, cichlid pellets, snails etc.

How big are yours? mine are just over an inch in size. I was told when i bought them that it was a pair but the more i watch them, the more i think they may both be female :/

I have 6 in total the biggest is an inch the rest are not far of that.

I think standby is right they may be a little too young to 100% confirm at present
