oh and another question, will gold rams and my blue/gold rams breed?
thnx

females have a pinkish abdomen, do any of your have that? also so you have one blue and one gold? i dont know about the breeding

mine are called blue/gold rams as far as i know, and you can get gold rams and also blue rams, search google.
none of mine have a pinkish abdominal, but i thought they only get this when wanting to breed?

dang, thats what i thought.. there about 2 inches

i guess ill try and swap one for a female..

The bottom one MAY be a female...
have you any other pics.
THe reason i think this, is that the irridecent is seen inside the black spot behind the gill plated. This is only seen in the female.

okay...
dunno if this matters but when they get close they seem to 'fight', like.. almost sorta kissing lol, pecking at eachothers mouht.. its weird

This is common behaviour, But is usually associalted with the males of the species, thats not to certify that both your fish are males...
Rams can be tricky to sex...

ok.. thnx for help.
ill maybe look round for one i can def tell is female :)

ok then ill leave them for some time and see what happens , cheers all :good:

Whats the tank size, because on male could kill the other male in a small sized tank. (10g)

Also, i think theres 2 males but i could be wrong. Also, dont always look for the red belly, because females only show that when breeding. but yes, your rams are often called "Blue" or "German" rams.

I am not looking at color, but finnage. The fins are all pointy, which leads me to belive that they are both male.

there are few ways to determine the sex of rams. They are not the easiest of cichlids to sex but is possible..
1. the first dorsal ray is more elongated on the male, the extensions on the dorsal and ventral are not valid in this species as kribensis said...
2. Females usually have a pink blotch near their pectoral fins
3. The males black botch behind the head is not broken, and will contain no irridecent scales which may be be seen in females...
