I'm working on eventually getting a trio of apistos, but I wasn't sure if I should spend more money on proven breeding ones (which seem to only ever be sold in pairs :X and are pricer) or just buy two females and a male (hopefully from someone here ;) ) and just hope it works out. Do you think they would breed or just be tiffy if I did it like this? I mean, I would think, male, female(s), BINGO, eggs. They wouldn't pull a me and be like 'that fish is such an ass' would they? :/

Mind you this probably isn't going to be happening for a while, but I like to know a head of time so I know whether to start a bank account solely for this project. -_- Damn neat expensive fish....

Well I wanted some to breed so I got a male a and a female.

I think one case of eaten eggs after one week, 2 weeks later babies!!!

They're so worth it! :D

I just today received an order of Cockatoos (Apistogramma cacatuoides). It was my first time dealing with shipping fish, and the shipping part seemed to be rough, but the vendor I used was supurb. Dave Soares (Apisto Dave) sent me 7 beautiful fish. They have only been in the aquarium 4 or 5 hours and two of the males are by far the most colorful I’ve ever seen of their size (1 - 1 1/4 inch long). There were other complications during the order and Dave went much further than any first time customer could ever ask.

Overall I would call this a rough experience with a first class breeder.

Also, I’m not promoting or suggesting you take this route. Just thought since I had such a recent related experience I’d share it for what it’s worth.
