Hi everyone,

Here in NZ i have only seen Gold sevrums, does anyone know if they come in greens, reds, blues etc? are the other colours rare?
They are my fav fish and am curious, is it possible to keep a few of them together?

Cheers & Thanks Again

Oh wow!

Those are gorgeous pics!!!

I would love a gold severum - I think they're one of my favorite fish!

Sorry to hijack but are the temperaments similar for all of these sevs? I am setting up a 125 gal tank soon and was definately getting a green sev but now i know there's more to choose from, who know's!

Temperment doesn't depend on color, it depends on the individual fish :) While young, severums can be pretty fiesty, but as they get larger they settle down and only need to show other fish who is boss, chasing becomes a last resort

Breeding sevs however, will kill other fish to protect their fry :)

Thanks for this Dwarfs. I guess what I'm really asking is are they all the same species and do they have the same characteristics? The colour was not really the issue, i'm just thinking in general terms, I fully understand the differences between individual fish but are their generic profiles the same or similar?

As an example of what i mean, there are hundreds of different Plec species and they can be vastly different. Just because they are a Plec doesn't mean that they all act the same and have the same aggression levels etc.

Hope that makes sense.

I think there are 2 or three different species of severum, but thay are all well behaved for cichlids :)

to some it up, Severums are BFGC - Big Friendly Giant Cichlids :D
