Hi all,

I've got 2 Gold Severum's (originally thought to be one male/one female, even though I know nothing's 100% when they're juvies) - can anyone help please?

Thanks & and a Happy Christmas

Fish 1 is deffo a male and I also think fish 2 is from the pigment on the cheeks of the fish, although the fins are slightly clamped and I cant see how defined they are.

Look between the eyes, not the cheeks.. if there are little or no squiggles between the eyes they're females..

I really cant see any, so I'd say they're both females.. if you can get pics of between their eyes it would be easier to tell, but I'm almost positive they're females.

Never heard of that one!

Will get some more pics soon, but just had a quick look at them...one's covered in red squiggles in between the eyes and the other has none at all. Failing that, they've both got red squiggles all over, although the bigger one (now potentially the male) has slightly more than the other.

Yea I've always looked between the eyes... most severums have squiggles on the sides of their face.. all of the severums I have do at least..

I was told long ago it was the squiggles between the eyes, and it has yet to fail me.. The fins probably are another way, but I find the face the easiest way.
