Severe Fin Rot And More...

Hi,
I have recently taken over an aquarium of many species of fish - mainly gourami, catfish, black shark (?) and a large fish which i am still to find out is...

I spotted the other day that one of the gourami had quite nasty fin rot, as his tail is quite.....well shreaded and underfin is quite degraded. The others had a touch of this as well but not as bad as the gourami

I looked at them today and noticed that another gourami is slowly degrading as well.

i am not 100% sure if this is fin rot or if the other fish might be nipping the gourami but could someone suggest anything that might help this = is there a product that i can use safely to see if this improves?

First of all, the 'black shark' may be a red tailed black shark, in which case it could possibly the culprit, as they can be quite aggressive, and you may need to re-home it.

Also, how big is your tank? Many catfish need HUGE tanks, and I think the RTBS also needs a large tank.

I agree we need tank size in gallons or litres, plus water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph, as if the red shark is not in the right size tank he will be more aggressive then normal.
