I've got a heavily planted 37-gal. The current occupants are:

2 half-dollar sized angels (standard finnage)
2 Farlowella
5 corydoras (3 melanistius, 2 julii)
1 Neon (will be moved)

Here's my question - how would 1 juvie sev (turqouise, quite pretty, tho that's irrelevant) fit into this mix, both for compatibility and bioload? I could also re-house the cories, if need be, to lower the bioload, but I'd rather keep them in there if possible. I would also like to move my adult male Krib  into this tank, but have serious reservations about this and won't take the chance if that's a bad choice. I'm open to any/all suggestions.

I have my severums with angels and they pretty much leave them alone though they may curiously chase angels every once in a while. But a severum might bother your angels if it doesn't have another severum to play with. I might also add that a 37g may be fine for a juvenile severum but will be a little too small when it reaches its maximum size of 8".

well said sevs^^

a big sev may not be too kind to an angel... but

If I get two juvie sevs, I'll have a year or so to re-house them. What tank size would work for the two of them? I'm thinking a 55 maybe?

I would think a 55 Gal would work fine. Most adult Sevs get about 8 inches long and 55 Gal gives you the "1.5 times the length of the fish" rule (more of a theory than rule) when considering the depth (front to back) of the aquarium.

yeah a 55g would work but the bigger the better that way you could add more if desired

:D Woo hoo! One of my coworkers is moving and has to sell her 55! Talk about timing! Would 3 sevs and a small school of larger tetras (black or rummy nose) work? Don't want to overstock, but don't want a sparse-looking tank either. Plus, I've been reading very conflicting things about the biotope. Some say heavily planted, some say rocks & no plants, some say a few plants, some say no rocks at all...I"m so confused! :dunno: I want to be as realistic as possible. Any suggestions?

mine have tons of rock. and a few plants
(granite rock)

Severums have been known to eat the occasional plant but I don't know too much about aquarium plants so you may be able to find a plant that the sevs don't have too much of an appetite for. Also if you are planning to add any cichlids (or any other fish) that may have a digging habit you would probally want to pot any plants and make sure that the rock formations are sitting on the bottom of the aqaurium to prevent a tragic avalanche.

3 juvie sevs in a 55g would be OK, but not full grown. You can do 2 full grown sevs in a 55g.....

Along the same line as this question...

I'm getting a 55 gallon tank from my friend, right now I have

2 albino cories
3 emerald cories
1 pleco

I'd like to put angels & sevs in there...or should i just stick to angels?
