Finally setup my tank today after putting the tank on my chester draws and finding out that it would not support 73 litres, I then had to purchase a £75 custom stand for the tank its self!!

That is a close up of the tank, currently just settling down as only about an hour ago I put the water in :D

One with the expensive cabinet

I've decided to put one of the following combinations;
1. 5 Tiger Barbs + 5 Neon Tetras
2. 6 Male Guppys + 5 White Clouds
3. 5 Tiger Barbs + 5 Corys
4. 2 Angels + 6 Flame Tetras

Mix them up or pick which one you think would be the best for my tank :D

Oh and I also picked up some API Tap Water Conditioner and it says on the back "1 drop per every 3.8 litres" is that right? I mean it dosen't seem even close to what I was told to do with my old tap water conditioner?

All those would be fine, appart from the last one. Angels get too big for your tank, and the flame tetras are quite nippy, and would take on the angels

That is the correct dosage for that conditioner :good: I use it myself, and it is stronger than most others that my lfs sells.

Presumably, you have read [topic="113861"]this thread[/topic] about fishless cycling? It is my advised methord of cycling, as it is far less hard on the fish :good:

Yup :D Might go for the tiger barbs and some corys, as they are my two favorites :D Thanks for all the help much appreciated.

Also my tank is spewing out ALOT of bubbles, anyway to stop this? (From the filter exit)

Nope, it will clear itself within a few hours. If its still going on after like 24hours, look for leaks in the pipework :good:

Ok thanks, nothing to be worried about then, also, i've had the heater on for a while now and it hasent increased the temp by anything.

Congratulations!!! From a stocking stand point, personally, I would steer clear of the tiger barbs. They are very aggressive and, IMO, aren't good community fish. They would maybe be fine with corys since the corys will stay mainly on the bottom and leave the rest of the tank to the barbs but not certain about that. They may harass the neons to death. Also, the angels will outgrow your tank. If you have plans to upgrade later, they will be fine for a while but they can eventually be 12" or more in height (mainly fins) so they need a deep tank. Of the fish you mentioned, I would actually go with a mix of male guppies and neons. Both are very colorful.

The dechlor you are using is not one that I would recommend. It removes chlorine but may not be effective on chloramine (their tech sheet only mentions chlorine). I prefer API's other product, Stress Coat for my dechlor. Prime is another that is very popular. I'm not sure about thhe dosage but it sounds a little low to me too. Stress Coat says 1ml treats about 4 gallon which would mean 4 drops of your product. I know there are more than 4 drops in a ml unless you're using a big dropper. I (probably most of the members here) never measure dechlor. You really can't overdose with it so I just squirt some in. I'm sure I use too much but it's just a lot esier than hunting out the measuring spoons.

Thanks, the temp in the tank has increased slightly over the last hour or so.

Regarding the bubbles produced from the filter, if I turn the filters flow down to 5/8th's it dosen't produce any bubbles. Would this affect the filter if I reduced the flow when I sleep as it may disturb me (alot of bubbles poping) i'm a light sleeper :D

Id possibly look at Pentazona Barbs, they dont grow as large as Tiger Barbs and are far less nippy.

Pentazona Barbs are much better community fish than Tiger Barbs

Why isn't your tank filled up to the top?

Tiger Barbs are cracking litle fish but need careful stocking. They seem to do OK with other barbs (Odessas, goldens and pentzonas) but are no good with the majority of community fish. As mentioned they tend to leave bottom feeders alone so your cories will do fine with them. You may also find in a tank like that which is not very long that one barb may get picked on a lot as there is not a lot of space for them to define terratories. The more the better really, 6+ I would say minimum. Don't forget that they can reach up to 3" in size so 6 of them will fill over half of the stocking space in your tank.

:good:
