Hi guys.

I have a 30" back and 15" to center bowed fish tank, roughly 20-25 inches deep (forgot to take that measurement lol). I have a Fluval 3 internal power filter, and thats it. I am yet to set up the tank because i have been advised that the filtration setup is not adequate.

I want to keep tank cleaning down to a minimum, the options suggested have been an undergravel filter but ive found finding an undergravel filter to fit a bowed tank very very difficult. The other suggestion was to run a Fluval external canister filter alongside the Fluval 3 internal filter?

Please help as i am baffled.

Cheers!

Why not a HOB (hang on back). I have a similar size tank and my HOB seems to do the job. It is an Emperor 280. I don't have experience with any other kind but the HOB is easy.

Hi..I have a 46 gallon bowfront and I have an AquaClear 70 (300). Why won't it fit on the back? Aren't there cutouts for your filters? The back is straight and the front is curved, so, an outside power filter should fit fine. A 70 would be excellent filtration for your tank. They get rave reviews here. SH

Think i will have to get some pictures for you guys.

The filter that was initially in the tank was stuck to the back wall but took up alot of room. It was basically like an overflow container with sponges, and a pump that sat on the gravel and a hosepipe went into the filter.

It looked crap so i cut it off!

Hi..is that like one of those new All-Glass overflow type filters where the canister connects sorta directly to the aquarium? SH

It was nothing fancy at all, just the water fills up in one chamber that has 1 sponge, then overflows into the other chamber through another sponge then goes out of the filter.....it worked crap
